Morry is the founding Principal of Vinva, having started Vinva Investment Management in 2010. He is the Managing Director (MD) and Head of Investments. Morry oversees the strategic direction of Vinva, including implementation and management across all business units.

Morry is a proven and experienced leader in the investment management industry who has a long-term track record of research innovation and delivery of investment performance to clients and was inducted into the Australian Fund Manager Hall of Fame 2023, one of only 22 fund managers to receive this award.

Prior to starting Vinva, Morry spent over 12 distinguished years with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), the largest investment manager in the world with nearly US$2 trillion in global assets under management. Morry was Global Head and Chief Investment Officer for BGI’s Global Active Equity Business with responsibility for the Portfolio Management and Research functions of US$300 billion in actively managed global equities. During his time, Morry lead BGI to numerous awards including Fund Manager of the Year and Asia Hedge Fund of the Year. He joined BGI in 1997 as Head of Equity Investments and developed an active equity business across long-only and long-short strategies. Morry established a highly successful investment team and designed an investment process that delivered outperformance in 11 out of 12 years. Prior to becoming Global CIO, Morry held the dual role of CEO and Chief Investment Officer for BGI’s Australian and NZ business which managed over $50 billion in assets.

Prior to joining BGI, Morry was the Head of Quantitative Research at Rothschild Asset Management having started his career at Legal & General in the Actuarial Research Division after they awarded him a University Scholarship at completion of high school.

Morry holds a Master’s Degree in Economics (majoring in Actuarial Science and Statistics) and a Bachelor of Economics, both from Macquarie University.

Nick is a Principal of Vinva having been with the firm since its inception in 2010 and is a member of the Vinva Board. Nick heads up the portfolio management team responsible for the allocation of capital across different trading strategies whilst optimising for factors such as diversification, liquidity and transaction costs.

Prior to Vinva, Nick was the Senior Portfolio Manager in BGI’s highly successful Australian equities team responsible for trading long only and long-short portfolios. In addition to managing portfolios, he was enhanced the trading and monitoring technology for BGI’s Australian equity products.

Nick has proven portfolio management capabilities, strong trading insights and a proven track record of delivering investment performance to clients. Prior to BGI, Nick spent ten years with J.P. Morgan, in roles including Head of Quantitative Research and Head of Centralised Execution.

Nick holds a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Finance (Honours) from the University of NSW.

Andrew Jackson
Head of Research

Prior to joining Vinva in 2010, Andrew was the Head of Equity Investments at BlackRock in Australia. Prior to BlackRock’s acquisition of Barclays Global Investors (BGI), Andrew was the Head of Australian Equity Research at BGI from 2004 to 2009.

Prior to BGI, Andrew was a quantitative portfolio manager and researcher for both SSgA and Lend Lease Investment Management. Andrew holds a PhD in Finance from London Business School and a strong and proven research track record with papers published in leading international journals such as the Journal of Finance, Journal of Portfolio Management and the Journal of Business. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, has a Masters of Finance, is a CFA charter holder and a Fellow of FINSIA, and has a first-class honours degree with the university medal in actuarial studies and economics from Macquarie University.

Steve joined Vinva in 2012 as a Portfolio Manager, focussing on the allocation of capital across different trading strategies whilst optimising for factors such as diversification, liquidity and transaction costs.

Prior to Vinva, Steve was Managing Director and Global Head of Quantitative Strategy for J.P. Morgan Equity Research based in Hong Kong. In this role he was responsible for 6 international research desks covering all the major equity markets, advising the client base on systematic investment strategies and portfolio construction techniques as well as providing regular and ad hoc research publications and bespoke analysis.

Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, he spent 4 years at Credit Suisse working in Australian equity research as a member of the quantitative data analytics team. Before entering the finance industry, Steve spent 6 years designing and developing software systems for a variety of blue-chip companies in London, Dublin and Sydney.

Steve holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Bristol University, UK, a Post Graduate Diploma in Knowledge Engineering and a Post Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance and Investment

Trent joined Vinva in 2012 as a Portfolio Manager, focussing on the allocation of capital across different trading strategies whilst optimising for factors such as diversification, liquidity and transaction costs.

Prior to joining Vinva, Trent spent 11 years at Barclays Global Investors (BGI) and BlackRock Australia. From 2001-2008, Trent was a senior trader and portfolio manager with BGI in London where he focused primarily on the European active equity strategies which totalled $50bn AUD in assets. Beyond his responsibilities of enhancing the trading process and platforms, Trent was also involved in launching and managing the mid horizon long-short active strategy.

In 2008 Trent moved to Sydney with BGI where he was Head of Asia Pacific Equity Trading. He was responsible for establishing and managing the Asia Pacific equity trading desk, enhancing BGI’s trading capabilities in the region, and responsible for the trading and implementation of all active Asian long-short equity strategies. In 2010, Trent was promoted to Managing Director and appointed Head of Trading across Asia Pacific for BlackRock, this involved all assets classes and investment products in the region. He was also a member of the Global Executive Trading Group and the Australian Leadership Group.

Prior to joining BGI, Trent spent 5 years with BNP Paribas in the portfolio management and trading group.

Trent holds a Bachelor of Business from Newcastle University plus a Master of Finance and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (Finsia).

Ethan Hansen
Portfolio Analyst

Ethan Hansen joined Vinva in June 2024 as a portfolio analyst responsible for enhancing Vinva’s portfolio management and trading systems. Prior to joining Vinva, he worked at high frequency trading firm IMC, where he developed proprietary execution technology for the Asia region. In this role he developed ultra-low latency order and feed management systems. He also served as a C++ educator and was involved in helping run IMC’s internship program.

Ethan’s career so far has spanned a range of technical roles across various sectors. At the Macquarie-owned Paraway Pastoral, he developed technology that integrated satellite imagery to analyse and report on soil quality (NDVI) of their expansive network of agricultural properties. He was involved in designing and developing automated systems for monitoring and controlling vertical farming environments. He has also worked in other roles where he focused on engineering and developing solutions dealing with large-scale and time-sensitive data.

Ethan graduated with a Bachelor of Computer Science from the University of New South Wales, where he earned a full Scholarship for Computer Science, and was recognised on the Dean’s Honours List for every eligible year. Whilst at University, he led a team to build an AI note-taking platform, partnering with the Faculty of Medicine, that ended up being used extensively within the university and garnering thousands of users more broadly.

Danny joined Vinva in 2011 with the responsibility of researching new equity security selection models, ESG integration and other ways to enhance aspects of the existing investment process.

Before joining Vinva, Danny spent two years in London working as a portfolio manager in the fixed income team managing Macquarie’s global sovereign fixed income funds. Prior to this, Danny worked as a quantitative research analyst at Macquarie responsible for all facets of research including the development of alpha generation strategies, risk models and portfolio analytics across a suite of products.

Danny holds double degrees in Commerce and Science majoring in actuarial studies and mathematics, graduating with first class honours and the university medal. He was awarded a PhD in Finance at the University of Technology, Sydney.

TK joined Vinva in 2017 and is a Research Director, responsible for researching new equity security selection models and advancing our next generation of proprietary optimisation algorithms.

Prior to joining Vinva, he spent 11 years with BlackRock. TK is a senior investment professional with extensive global equity research experience focusing on global security selection models. He has also successfully applied machine learning algorithms on a global basis to equity strategies.

At BlackRock, he was a senior researcher in the Scientific Active Equity (SAE) team, where he worked on equity research projects across both quantitative & fundamental teams. He was awarded the best global equity research award in 2011 and 2012. TK was also a member of the Global Equity Research Approval Board, which had global responsibility for all equity research within BlackRock. On the portfolio management side, he helped build the research systems and portfolio management and optimisation tools.

TK holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Cape Town University where he graduated with First Class Honours and was on the Dean’s Merit List for 3 years running. He was also awarded Best Electrical Engineering Student in South Africa. He is a CFA charterholder, along with having a PhD from Monash University, where he was a Scholarship holder, majoring in Statistical Machine Learning and High Dimensional Data Analysis.

Juliane joined Vinva in 2021 as a Research Manager, focusing on researching new equity security selection models as well as looking for ways to enhance aspects of the existing investment process.

Prior to joining Vinva, Juliane worked at the ASX where she was responsible for quantitative risk modelling and market microstructure research. Previously, she spent 4 years in Data Science at a technology firm focused on high volume, high velocity and unstructured data.

Juliane holds a Bachelor of Science as well as a Master of Science (majoring in Business Administration and Civil Engineering) graduating with High Distinction from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. She completed her Master’s thesis in Behavioural Finance and was published in the Journal of Banking and Finance. Juliane has also completed a PhD in Finance at UNSW and has been the recipient of multiple scholarships.

Robert Franklin
Research Manager

Rob joined Vinva in 2020 as a Research Manager, focusing on researching new equity security selection models as well as looking for ways to enhance aspects of our existing investment process. Rob has extensive experience developing quantitative models, having built and used machine learning methods in financial markets, as well as for computer vision and NLP problems.

Prior to joining Vinva, Rob worked for 57degrees, an AI robotics company in the UK, where he was a Lead Scientist, researching and developing classification and semantic segmentation neural networks for computer vision that integrated into the robot’s 3D environment mapping framework. Prior to that, Rob worked in London for Aberdeen Standard Investments for over 10 years, most recently a quantitative investment manager, Macro Systematic Strategies, in the Multi-Asset group. After completing University, Rob was selected in the Credit Suisse Asset Management Graduate program in Sydney.

Rob holds a Bachelor of Science (Advanced) majoring in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from Sydney University, and where he was the recipient of the Tim Brown Prize (1st place overall for final year statistics). He also completed an Honours year in Statistics, where he graduated with First Class Honours. He is also FSA CF30 approved, holding an Investment Management Certificate (IMC) Level 1 and 2.

Abirami Srikumar

Abirami joined Vinva in 2021 while she was completing her PhD in Applied Mathematics at the University of NSW (UNSW). Abirami is involved in researching new ideas and helping advance our proprietary optimisation processes.

Prior to joining Vinva, Abirami has previously worked in the data and analytics team at Ernst & Young and the quantitative solutions and risk team at HESTA.

She holds a Bachelor of Actuarial Studies and Bachelor of Advanced Mathematics (Honours) from UNSW graduating with First Class Honours and the University Medal. She also completed her PhD in Applied Mathematics in 2024. In addition, while at UNSW, Abirami was the recipient of the Paradice Honours Award in Mathematics and Statistics as well as The Faculty of Science Dean’s List Award. She also won the prize for Women in Mathematics and Statistics.

Duncan has been with Vinva since the business’ inception in 2010. He is an Investment Technology professional with over 25 years’ experience developing systems for the funds management industry. He has proven ability with design, coding and implementation of industry leading investment management infrastructure and software systems.

Prior to joining Vinva, Duncan spent 12 years with BGI Australia and BlackRock Australia in key roles leading the design and implementation of the investment technology platforms and proprietary portfolio management systems. He was also responsible for establishing and managing proprietary data feeds with internal and external data suppliers.

Duncan commenced his career with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia in Sydney responsible for all in-house risk management and portfolio attribution systems.

Gangeyan has been with Vinva since 2010 and is responsible for the development, implementation and management of applications and data feeds for the business. In addition to this, he maintains Vinva’s proprietary investment data and assists with the advancement of Vinva’s proprietary investment technology platform. Prior to joining Vinva, Gangeyan spent 6 years at BGI Australia and BlackRock Australia.  At BGI, he held several roles including Senior Design and Development Engineer, responsible for developing and implementing an Australian ETF platform, and Equities Systems Analyst in the Australian Equities Team developing investment signals. Before joining BGI, he was Senior Development Engineer at British Aerospace Engineering where he received the Chairman’s Award for Innovation for designing and developing an Objective Management System. Gangeyan holds a Masters of Science degree from the University of Westminster, UK.

Jenny joined Vinva in 2013 and is responsible for the development, implementation and management of applications and data feeds for the business. In addition to this she maintains Vinva’s proprietary investment data and assists with the advancement of Vinva’s proprietary investment technology platform.

Prior to joining Vinva, Jenny spent 8 years with BGI Australia and BlackRock Australia. Jenny is a technology professional who has extensive experience working closely with business units implementing key software solutions in addition to a variety of end-to-end process automation. Jenny is a specialist across detailed business analysis, proprietary software development and solution implementation through to investment process support.

Before joining BGI, Jenny worked with Logica as a software developer in several Government initiatives including the Gas Retail Market Business System, NSW Greenhouse Gas Registry System and Department of Commerce eBusiness procurement project. She started her IT career with Westpac as part of their graduate program while undertaking her bachelor degree.

Jenny holds a Bachelor of Computing Science from the University of Technology, Sydney and a Master of Information Technology from Charles Sturt University.

John joined Vinva in 2016 and is responsible for the development, implementation and management of applications and data feeds for the business. In addition to this, he maintains Vinva’s proprietary investment data and assists with the advancement of Vinva’s proprietary investment technology platform.

Prior to joining Vinva, John spent 14 years at BGI Australia and BlackRock Australia where he held several roles including leading the Australian Development Team. He was responsible for the development, implementation and management of applications and data feeds, primarily for the back and middle office and for the consolidation of a large portfolio of applications from across the business, and integrating local and global systems.

Prior to joining BGI, John’s experience includes 7 years at Dresdner Bank AG working as a Senior Software Engineer for both the front and back office across the areas of Foreign Exchange, Fixed Income, Compliance and Operations. This followed an earlier IT role at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC).

John holds a Bachelor of Applied Science, majoring in Mathematics and Computing from the University of Technology, Sydney.

Charles has been with Vinva since 2010 and is responsible for formulating the strategy to grow new business.

Prior to joining Vinva, Charles was the Head of Global Investments at HSBC Australia from 2008-2010. At HSBC, Charles was a member of the bank management team and the Asia Pacific Executive Committee. Previously Charles was Head of Sales and Consultant Relationships, for BGI Australia between 2003 and 2008, where he oversaw the sales effort and managed key client relationships for that business. Prior to BGI, Charles held sales and portfolio management roles at Westpac Investment Management for six years.

Charles has a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University, Diploma of Technical Analysis, Master of Applied Finance, completed the CFP (Certified Financial Planner) and has an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management. Charles is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is on several industry and charity boards.

Clare joined Vinva in 2018 and is responsible for leading Vinva’s Client Relationship team. Her role entails developing and executing strategies to nurture strong relationships with both clients and consultants, ensuring their investment needs are effectively met by Vinva.

Prior to joining Vinva, Clare spent 14 years at Schroder Investment Management where she was most recently the Head of Financial Institutions and held positions of Institutional Client Director and Head of Client Services. Prior to Schroders, Clare was a Practice Development Adviser for the Financial Services group at Mallesons Stephen Jaques. Clare also spent five years at Northern Trust in the UK where she was a Vice President and held client related roles within the investment and custody businesses.

Clare is a Certified Investment Management Analyst, holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours from the University of Plymouth in the UK and Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance from FINSIA.

Paul joined Vinva in July 2024 and is responsible for implementing the strategy to grow new business, focused primarily in the wholesale market.

Prior to joining Vinva, Paul was a Key Account Manager at First Sentier from 2019-2024. At First Sentier, Paul was responsible for redefining the NSW wholesale distribution strategy, for identifying business opportunities in the private wealth segment and key independent asset consultants.  Previously Paul held various distribution roles at SG Hiscock & Company, Perennial Investment Partners and Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

Paul has a Bachelor of Business, Economics and Finance from the University of Western Sydney. And a Master of Applied Finance.

Veronique Ellison

Veronique joined Vinva in 2014 in the client relationship team and served as Head of Client Relationships from 2018 to 2021. She is responsible for managing Vinva’s client and consultant relationships.

Prior to joining Vinva, Veronique spent 10 years with BGI Australia and BlackRock Australia as a Vice President within both the Sales and Consultant Relationship Team and the Client Relationship team. Her responsibilities included completing new business proposals, managing strategic client relationships, working closely with asset consultants, and providing product and company updates at client Investment Committee and Trustee meetings.

Prior to BGI, Veronique held various positions at HSBC. These included client relationship and communications roles across their retail banking and institutional businesses.

Veronique has a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Operations Research from Macquarie University and a Masters in Applied Finance from the Financial Services Institute of Australia (FINSIA).

Rozita joined Vinva in 2013 and is responsible for managing Vinva’s client and consultant relationships.

Prior to joining Vinva, Rozita spent 7 years with BGI Australia and BlackRock Australia as a Vice President within the Sales and Consultant Relationship teams. At BGI, Rozita was responsible for completing new business proposals, due diligence questionnaires and investment surveys, as well as maintaining consultant and client databases for the Australian business.

Prior to BGI, Rozita was an Economics and Financial Markets Research Analyst at Stone & McCarthy Research Associates, where she was responsible for quantitative and qualitative research analysis covering economics, financial markets and political economy for the Japanese and Asia Pacific regions. Rozita began her career at Commonwealth Bank of Australia where she joined the graduate program working in Institutional Banking as a Private Client Advisor on direct Australian equities.

Rozita has a Bachelor of Economics, majoring in Economics and Finance from the University of Sydney and a Masters in Advanced Finance from the University of New South Wales.

Samantha has been with Vinva since the business’ inception in 2010. Prior to joining Vinva, Samantha worked at BGI Australia for 5 years where she held roles including Executive Assistant (EA) to the CEO, Personal Assistant (PA) to the Head of Institutional Business responsible for Events Management for the Institution Sales and Service team. Before joining BGI, she worked as an EA to the COO of Risk at Barclays Capital in South Africa. She has also worked in various industries including financial planning as Client Service support, and Advertising as PA to the Deputy MD of Client Service and Franchising.

ESG Stewardship Director 

Monique joined Vinva in 2011 and is responsible for all ESG stewardship activities for our Australian and global equity funds and engagement on ESG issues with our investee companies. Monique has extensive experience in corporate governance and ESG, and over 30 years’ experience in the investment management industry, including positions with Macquarie Investment Management and Westpac Investment Management.

Prior to joining Vinva, Monique was Director of Corporate Governance for BlackRock Australia and held a similar role at BGI Australia where she served for 12 years. Monique joined BGI initially in the London office in 1997 and moved to the Australian office in early 2000.

Monique has a Bachelor of Arts from Canberra University and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment.

Will joined Vinva in 2023 as a Product Specialist within the client team and works closely with the ESG Stewardship Director and the investment research team on ESG and sustainability-related topics.

Prior to joining Vinva, Will spent 3 years at BNP Paribas Asset Management where he was responsible for developing sustainability-focused investment strategies and communicating the company’s ESG integration approach to Australian clients. Prior to moving to Australia and joining BNP Paribas Asset Management, Will spent over 8 years at BlackRock in the UK working in various roles within product development, strategy and governance.

Will is a CFA® charterholder and has earned the CFA® Institute’s Certificate in ESG Investing. Will holds Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in Mathematics from the University of Warwick, UK.

Rob has been with Vinva since the business’ inception in 2010 and was Vinva’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) until 2022.  As CFO, Rob is responsible for the commercial operations of Vinva. 

Prior to joining Vinva, Rob served as the COO of BlackRock Australia where he was responsible for business management and all operational functions. Rob previously spent 11 years at BGI Australia holding several roles including COO, CFO and Head of Operations. Prior to that, Rob was the corporate financial controller for ING Australia (Mercantile Mutual), and a senior manager at Arthur Andersen in the financial services practice in both London and Sydney.

Rob is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and holds a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University.

Tanya joined Vinva in 2022 and is responsible for overseeing Operations, Risk and Compliance for Vinva, including managing outsourced investment administration relationships. She has over 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry.

Prior to joining Vinva, Tanya was an executive director and equity holder at the outsourced fund administrator White Outsourcing (now part of the Link Group). Her experience there included Head of Fund Accounting, Registry and Investment Operations and General Manager with experience including risk and compliance, financial reporting, tax, unit pricing, human resources, and corporate finance.

Tanya is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and holds a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Accounting and Marketing from the University of Technology, Sydney.

Sarah joined Vinva in 2018 as a Compliance Manager supporting the Chief Operating Officer. Sarah is responsible for the compliance and operational functions of Vinva’s unit trusts and client mandates.

Prior to joining Vinva, Sarah spent 6 years with AMP Capital where she most recently led a team of Institutional Client Account Managers. Her role included preparing Board and Investment Committee papers and implementing regulatory changes as well as ensuring the institutional clients received timely and accurate reports and guidance on any matters affecting their portfolios.

Prior to AMP Capital, Sarah led a team of trade support staff at Blackrock Australia. She also spent 7 years with AXA Rosenberg in London and transitioned with them to Sydney in 2007 as Assistant Portfolio Manager.

Sarah started her career in Edinburgh with Stewart Ivory Investment Managers in a settlement specialist role before moving to London in 2000 to work with Morley Fund Managers, part of Aviva Group, in various roles including managing trade support teams and business analyst roles.

Karl joined Vinva in 2019 as a senior database professional with over 25 years’ experience of large database implementations in funds management, investment banking, telecommunications, transportation and the e-commerce sector.

Prior to this Karl spent 8 years at NBN Co as a Database Architect. In this role, Karl was the Oracle database technical lead in the data centre architecture team supporting the rollout of the National Broadband Network (NBN) across Australia. In the 5 years before joining NBN Co, Karl was at Barclays Capital and Barclays Global Investors (BGI) where he was a senior database specialist in the global database support teams.

Karl has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Mathematics and Economics from the University of Auckland and is an Oracle Certified Master (OCM).

Dhanesh Kumarasinghe

Dhanesh joined Vinva in 2022, as an IT Technology Professional with over 21 years of experience in the field. He has been supporting IT Infrastructure and Systems at organisations of varied sizes, in Transport, IT & Telecommunications, Veterinary and Retail/Hospitality industries and has sound knowledge of Technologies such as Virtualisation, Networking and Cloud Infrastructure management.

Prior to joining Vinva, Dhanesh worked for Endeavour Group where he played a pivotal role in the demerger of the business, ensuring seamless end user transition, network unification and brand-new identity management platform rollout to achieve this.

Dhanesh has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Systems from the University of Auckland.

Katherine is the Chair of Vinva’s ESG Stewardship Committee. Katherine was previously Vinva’ s Head of Client Relationships and Marketing between 2010 and 2018. Prior to joining Vinva, Katherine was a Managing Director and Head of Distribution at Barclays Global Investors (BGI), with accountability for approximately 35 sales and client service staff, over 300 institutional clients and retail intermediary platforms. She also had responsibility for functional reporting areas such as: Corporate Governance, Marketing & Communications and Performance & Reporting. Katherine was a member of the BGI Australia Executive Committee for over 10 years, founder of the BGI Women’s Initiative, and a Responsible Officer.

Katherine has a Bachelor of Business and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

 Richard C. Grinold
Retired

Richard is a retired shareholder of Vinva Investment Management. Richard is one of the most experienced and most respected investment professionals in the global asset management industry. His research innovations and thought leadership in risk modelling, portfolio construction and the systematic approach to exploiting security mispricing have had a positive influence on the asset management industry. He has published more than fifty papers in academic and professional journals, including “Implementation Efficiency”, “A Dynamic Model for Portfolio Management” and “Attribution”.

Richard Grinold served as the Global Director of Research at Barclays Global Investors (BGI) from 1994 until his retirement in November 2009. During his time at BGI he shaped the investment research and innovation agenda that lead to BGI being one of the most successful global active managers in the industry. His global team was responsible for active investment strategies with assets of over USD240 billion invested across equity, fixed income and asset allocation strategies. Prior to joining BGI, Richard was Director of Research and later President of BARRA, a leading global investment technology company.

Richard also spent twenty years on the faculty of the School of Business Administration at the University of California, Berkeley. At Berkeley Richard served, at various times, as Chairman of the Finance faculty, Chairman of the Management Science faculty, and Director of the Berkeley Program in Finance. Richard was a Research Fellow at Harvard in 1968–69, and a Fellow at CORE in Louvain Belgium in 1974. He has served as a visiting professor at HEC near Paris in 1979–1980, and at the Harvard Business School in 1983–1984.

Richard received his Ph.D. in Operations Research from U.C. Berkeley in 1968. He studied Physics at Tufts University and helped to wire up the Harvard-MIT Cambridge Electron Accelerator.

Bruce Goddard

Bruce is a retired shareholder of Vinva having previously been CIO of BGI Australia between 2000 and 2007. As CIO, Bruce was responsible for all the investment strategies offered by BGI in Australia. He was also Global Head of BGI’s Global Market Strategies Group, the group responsible for designing and managing BGI’s Global Macro Hedge Funds and active currency strategies around the world.

Bruce spent over 20 years at BGI both in the US and Australia, holding roles including Head of Fixed Income Group, co-Head of the Portfolio Management Group and Chief Investment Officer of the Defined Contribution Research and Strategy Group.

Prior to joining BGI, Bruce managed enhanced bond index portfolios in the institutional fixed income division of Mellon Bank. Bruce received an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley, and a BA in Economics and Statistics and an MA in Finance and Investment from the University of Exeter in England. He has also been a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) since 1986.

Justin Wood

Justin is a retired shareholder of Vinva having previously been CEO of BGI Australia between 2000 and 2007 before retiring in 2009. Justin is a well-known and respected thought leader in financial markets, financial planning, and retirement systems. Justin also has a strong interest in risk management and served on many local and global risk, compliance and fiduciary committees during his time at BGI. He is a past Board member and Chair of the Investment Board Committee for the Investment and Financial Services Association (IFSA) and was a regular speaker at industry conferences. He received an IFSA industry excellence award in 2009 for contributions to the industry.

During his time at BGI Australia, Justin combined industry roles with academic roles, primarily at the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) in the University of New South Wales. At the AGSM his main research interest was the economics of taxes and he was Director of the AGSM’s executive Portfolio Management program for 10 years.

Justin has a PhD in Finance from the University of New South Wales.
